The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association announced on Monday, May 4, that any use of unmanned aerial vehicles, known as drones, will be prohibited for any reason at WIAA tournament venues.

"The policy addresses the safety of the student-participants, coaches and spectators and to maintain a fair and level playing field" WIAA Executive Director Mike Colbrese said in a press release.

Anyone attempting to use a drone will be denied admission to tournament sites, and any drone attempted to be used during a tournament will be confiscated until the tournament is over.

The WIAA did say, an exception to the policy will be made in certain cases for WIAA broadcast partners.
