Warriors edge Thunderbirds | Boys tennis

Edmonds-Woodway stayed atop the Wesco 3A South standings with a close victory over its nearest rival.

The Warriors edged second-place Shorewood 4-3 in a key boys tennis match Thursday, Sept. 27, at Edmonds-Woodway High School.

Edmonds-Woodway improved to 6-0 in the league and 10-0 overall, while the Thunderbirds fell to 5-1 and 8-2.

Will Molinaro and Jordan Megiverson both won their singles matches for the Warriors. Molinaro beat Andrew Counter 6-0, 6-2, and Megiverson handled Steven Lin 6-3, 6-1.

Edmonds-Woodway’s Alec Matulka/Drew Boland rallied to beat Ari Webb/Bennett Vana 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 and Dylan Strauss/Zach Foreman defeated Erik Erstgaard/Sam Perkowski 6-2, 6-2.

The Warriors host Stanwood at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, at Edmonds-Woodway High School. The Wesco 3A South Division tournament is scheduled for Oct. 16-17 at Jackson High School.
