The suspect charged the officer, running into the uniformed officer and his marked police motorcycle
Feb 25, 2013

Officers were called to Alderwood, the mall located in the 3000 184th St. SW in Lynnwood at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday evening after security there alerted Lynnwood Police of a man in their food court looking similar to a wanted felony suspect from one of their recent crime bulletins.

A Lynnwood Police Motorcycle Officer was performing a high-risk stop of the known wanted felon as he was trying to leave the mall, when the suspect charged the officer, running into the uniformed officer and his marked police motorcycle.

The officer, who has been with LPD for 12 years, was transported to Swedish Edmonds Hospital for evaluation; thankfully he didn’t sustain life threatening injuries.

After hitting the officer and his motorcycle- the suspect continued accelerating, driving over curbing, through landscaping, across a sidewalk and crashing into two parked vehicles.

That collision overturned one of the parked cars and pushed it into a second parked vehicle that was occupied by a 25 year-old Snohomish woman.

The woman was obviously shaken, but didn’t have any serious injuries. She was treated by Aid and released at the scene.

The suspect, a 19 year-old Arlington man, was immediately taken into custody.

This known felon was involved in an incident with LPD last week. Just after 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 this same suspect was seen near the mall in a stolen vehicle. The suspect failed to yield to police and crashed a short distance away.

The suspect then fled from the vehicle and a foot pursuit and K9 track ensued. The suspect was able to elude capture at that time.

With evidence recovered from the stolen vehicle, Lynnwood Police were able to identify the suspect and were familiar with him from past arrests.

The suspect was arrested and booked into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of Assault on a Police Officer, Felony Eluding, three counts of Possession of a stolen vehicle and Malicious Mischief in the first degree.
