Virginia (Jennings) Hardman: 1923-2017

Virginia (Jennings) Hardman passed away peacefully on Dec. 18, 2017. She was 94.

"Ginny" was born July 9, 1923, to Drs. Alva and Agnes Jennings at their home in Edmonds. Edmonds remained her home for her entire life. She attended Edmonds High School class of 1940 and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Washington in 1946 with a bachelor’s degree in business and economics.

Ginny married William "Bill" Hardman on July 7,1945. They built their own home in Edmonds, where they raised four children: June, Gail, Bill and Jim.

The family led an active life of hiking, camping, skiing and swimming, as well as church activities at Edmonds United Methodist Church. Ginny was a talented pianist and organist and served for several years as assistant organist and accompanist to the church choir.

In the 1970's she became interested in the "human potential movement." She was a founding member of High Point Foundation Northwest.

Bill and Ginny loved to travel. They took many trips, to such places as the USSR, Israel, Turkey, Kenya and the Galapagos.

Her life was blessed with 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, brother Stanley and grandchild Crystal. She is survived by her four children, her sister Dorothy Jennings, and half-sister, Beverly Jennings.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 2, 2:00 p.m. at Edmonds United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers St., Edmonds.
