The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Centennial Plaza in Edmonds had one crucial thing going for it: the weather.

Yes, there were some raindrops. But the wind wasn't a factor. And, as Edmonds Chamber of Commerce CEO and President Greg Urban reminded the crowd, the weather was worse last year.

One noticeable difference this year, other than the weather, were the vendors, handing out candy canes, cookies, cider, coffee and hot chocolate under canopies arranged in the middle of Fifth Avenue North.

Previously, vendors had been stationed on the west side of Fifth, on the sidewalk.

Sponsors include Beacon Publishing, Community Transit, Heritage Bank, SiteWorks, Rusty Pelican Cafe and Chermak Construction.

There was plenty of holiday music to get everyone in the mood, from instrumental jazz to chorus classics such as "Here Comes Santa Claus" and "Jingle Bells."

The emcee was KING-5 news anchor Mimi Jung.

Look for a picture of Edmonds' lighted Christmas tree in Thursday's Beacon. Even better, check it out yourself!
