The 100-voice Sno-King Community Chorale features the folk ensemble The Brothers Four in a special Sing Out! For America concert 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N, Edmonds.

Since its founding 60 years ago, variations of The Brothers Four – originally fraternity brothers at the University of Washington – have played thousands of college concerts, sung for several different presidents at the White House and toured dozens of foreign countries.

They were pioneers in a folk revival, with their all-acoustic presentation of guitars, banjo, mandolin, upright bass and the trademark blend of their four voices.

The band has two of its original members: Bob Flick, leader, upright bass player, producer, and arranger, and Mark Pearson, who plays six- and 12-string guitars and banjo. Veteran folk performers Mike McCoy and Karl Olsen complete the quartet.

The Chorale will join them in a few of their musical million-sellers, including “Greenfields,” “Yellow Bird,” “If I Had a Hammer” and “Shenandoah.”

“These two concerts will be a special homecoming for The Brothers Four,” Flick said. “We had performed in Edmonds with the Sno-King Chorale a few seasons ago, and it’s so wonderful to be back singing songs with them and presenting memories from the American folk songbook again.”

Special tribute will be given to veterans, with the Chorale performing the “Armed Forces Medley” in honor of all branches of the armed services. And as a special thank you, SKCC will donate a major portion of the concert proceeds to the Edmonds Community College Veterans Resource Center and the University of Washington Student Veterans Community Fund.

“It’s especially important this year that the shows will fall on Veterans Day,” Flick said. “We are so very proud to be able to honor the men and women and their families who have served our country. The title of the shows is ‘Sing Out! For America,’ and we’re going to do just that. It’s guaranteed to be a fun, sing-along time for everyone.”

Tickets are available at the Edmonds Center for the Arts box office, by calling 425-275-9595, or going online to www.ec4arts.org.
