The Swedish Board of Trustees has named Dr. Guy Hudson – a Swedish pediatric urologic surgeon and executive physician leader – as chief executive officer.

Swedish is the largest nonprofit health care provider in the greater Seattle area, and has a hospital in Edmonds on 76th Avenue West, where Sarah Zable is the chief operating officer.

Hudson, 48, has served as interim CEO since February, and has practiced at Swedish for the past decade.

“In my decade at Swedish, I have developed an immense respect for this organization,” he said.

“As a physician, there is no place I would rather practice medicine. As CEO, there is no team I would rather lead.

“The caregivers and physicians at Swedish are the best I have ever worked with, and it is a thrill to be moving ahead into a new phase at Swedish together. I know Swedish Edmonds takes great pride in being a community hospital and the trusted healthcare partner in the community. We will continue to serve the Edmonds community with pride and compassion.”

Hudson has served in several leadership roles during his 10 years at Swedish, including Western Washington Chief of Physician Services, chief medical officer for Swedish Medical Group and executive director of pediatrics for all of Swedish.

Hudson is a pediatric urologic surgeon with a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Washington.

He earned his medical degree at the Indiana University School of Medicine, and completed an internship and residency at Oregon Health and Science University and a fellowship at University of California at San Diego.

Hudson and his family live in Ballard.
