Sponsored Feature: Coastal’s business experts set new branch apart

Oct 25, 2018
The team at Coastal Community Bank, along with clients and friends, celebrates the grand opening of their new branch in Edmonds on Thursday, Oct. 18. Mayor Dave Earling and Laura Byers, Executive Vice President, Chief Retail and Marketing Officer, center, take giant scissors in hand to cut the ribbon. Vice President and Edmonds Branch Manager Jeff King, standing next to Byers, said Coastal Community Bank provides personalized service to residents and business owners alike.

Anyone who’s paying attention couldn’t help but notice the synergy that has turned sleepy Edmonds into a vibrant, flourishing community. Residents, elected leaders, supporters of the arts and, of course, entrepreneurs have brought energy and vitality to a town everyone loves.

It’s no surprise, then, that the team at Coastal Community Bank saw they could be an important part of that synergy. They offer all of the services that clients would expect from a community bank, including a variety of checking and savings accounts, credit and debit card services, online banking and bill pay, mobile banking, personal loans and personal investment services.

But, in particular, Coastal has earned regional prominence for its services helping new businesses get started, and existing ones grow.

Julie Kuntz, Assistant Vice President and Senior Marketing Specialist, said the bank’s business experts really set them apart. While realizing many other banks were already established in Edmonds, she said Coastal’s well-deserved reputation for helping businesses succeed convinced them Edmonds would be a good fit.

“We’re competitive in the business community,” Kuntz said. “There’s a need in a place like Edmonds where there are lots of entrepreneurs.”

Laura Byers, Vice President and Chief Retail & Marketing Officer, said Coastal builds a team at each branch that caters to the needs and wants of that particular community.

“We’re not one of those banks that likes to target just one area of the banking business. It’s really all about the businesses in the community we serve,” Byers said. “We do multi-million dollar loans and we help small businesses as well.”

Coastal was founded in Everett in 1997 by business leaders who wanted a local bank with people they trusted making decisions based on knowledge and experience in Snohomish and Island counties. It has since grown to 14 branches.

That philosophy continues at the new branch with a team that brings years of local banking experience to Edmonds, including some who worked in the very same building for a previous bank.

Jeff King, Vice President and Branch Manager in Edmonds, said whether an entrepreneur is just starting out or an existing business owner wants to grow his company, Coastal can be an indispensable partner.

“We focus on customizing services to your business,” King said. “We don’t do a cookie-cutter approach. We sit down with you and get to know about you and your business.

“If you want to progress and grow, that’s our sweet spot.”

Services include SBA loans, setting up credit and debit card services, treasury management to optimize liquidity or manage financial risk, remote deposit, lines of credit, relocation loans, payroll services assistance, even small business retirement plans that benefit both owners and employees.

Want to start a business but don’t know how? Coastal’s team includes experts who can guide you to resources on how to develop and implement a business plan.
