The Edmonds Chamber hosted a ribbon cutting for the new Edmonds Senior Center Thrift Store in the Westgate Shopping Center.

Edmonds Chamber of Commerce president Greg Urban, Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling and senior center Executive Director Farrell Fleming were in attendance with members of the Edmonds Chamber and Edmonds Senior Center.

The Edmonds Senior Center Thrift Store operated in their old location for 33 years. Barb Halseth is the thrift store manager.

The store is the largest and most stable funding source for the center, averaging $150,000-$160,000 a year.

With donated inventory and a volunteer workforce, nearly the entire gross is applied to our vital programs for seniors.

The new space is more than 30 percent larger than the old space, which will allow  the store to add small furniture to the inventory of clothing, housewares, jewelry and one of a kind treasures.
