Courtesy of: EvCC Video of the sun as it erupts with flares captured by Greg Kammer is part of the “Sun and Earth” exhibit on display at EvCC’s Russell Day Gallery April 1-May 3.

See a video exhibition that juxtaposes projections of our turbulent sun and a temporal earth now until May 3 at Everett Community College’s Russell Day Gallery.

“Sun and Earth: 93 million miles in 8 minutes” was created by EvCC Russell Day Gallery Director Greg Kammer with scientific information from EvCC astronomy instructor Andrew Vanture.

The exhibit includes two full-wall video projections; a temporal earth with waterfalls, wave and wind-blown grass and a 5-foot diameter wall projection of the sun as it erupts with flares and storms during July 2012, the same time the landscape videos were made.

Kammer and Vanture will speak about the project at a reception noon to 2 p.m. April 4 at the gallery.

EvCC’s Russell Day Gallery is open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Fridays. The gallery is closed Saturdays and Sundays.

The gallery is in Parks Student Union room 219 at Everett Community College, 2000 Tower St.
