The Edmonds Education Association has endorsed Deborah Kilgore for the District 4 director position in the Edmonds School District. That district serves Edmonds schools.

Kilgore earned the endorsement of the Association, which represents over 1,500 certificated staff members in the Edmonds School District, because of her strong belief in public schools, her belief in keeping funding close to the students, her experience with finance, and her commitment to listening to the needs and hopes of staff, students, and the community when charting the direction of our District.

Kilgore is running for the seat vacated by Susan Phillips.

Her three children attend their neighborhood school, and she has volunteered in their classrooms for eight years. She served as the PTO president at Lynnwood Elementary for three years and was very successful in increasing parent involvement at the school.

Deborah’s background as an economic analyst and research scientist, as well as her Ph.D in education, provide solid foundational knowledge for understanding the complexities of the local school system and its budget.

With three children attending school in the Edmonds School District, Deborah is incredibly in touch with the most crucial issues facing students, educators and the district. Her extensive involvement in schools and parent organizations provides an important perspective for a member of our school board.

Deborah is committed to including all voices in the conversation about where the Edmonds School District should focus resources to provide the best possible education for all students.

Ballots are mailed to registered voters on Oct. 19, and Nov. 7 is the last day to return voted ballots.

Andi Nofziger-Meadows is president of the Edmonds Education Association.
