Rick Steves speaking on his upcoming TV special

Edmonds European travel expert Rick Steves’ behind-the-scenes look Sept. 7 about his upcoming public television special about hunger, hope, and the impact of smart development aid in what he calls the “Global South,” is full. It will be held at Steves' office on Fourth Avenue North.

But there are options if can't attend.

On Sunday, Sept. 8, Steves will premiere the special at the Great Hall, 1119 Eighth Ave., Seattle. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event is at 7:30. The event, part of the Town Hall Seattle series, is expected to sell out.

If you can’t get in, you can live stream the event at https://townhallseattle.org/event/rick-steves-2019/. It will then be featured on YouTube and Facebook.

Better news: On Nov. 2, Steves will be giving the “Hunger and Hope: talk at Edmonds Center for the Arts. The Beacon will feature an interview with Steves before the free event.

Steves will share lessons learned while traveling in Guatemala and Ethiopia – how globalization, technological innovations, the empowerment of women, and climate-smart agriculture are coming together to counter what he calls "The Three C’s" (conflict, corruption, and climate change) and are helping the world's 800 million poorest people climb out of extreme poverty.
