Reatha Lee: 1955-2018

Jun 20, 2018

Reatha Lee, 63, passed away June 5, 2018, from heart-related issues. Her passing was unexpected, and many family and friends are mourning her loss.

Reatha was born April 22, 1955, in Seattle. She was the fourth of five children to Dale George Lee and Nona Jorgensen Lee. Her parents raised their family in Edmonds. Reatha graduated from Edmonds High School in 1973. She remained close to many of her high school friends despite the years that passed and the distance that separated them.

After high school, Reatha attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. After receiving a two-year associate degree there, she transferred to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she graduated in the spring of 1979.

During her college years, she also made several lifelong friendships and touched the lives of many people. That fall, she moved to Farson, Wyoming, and began a 31-year teaching career with the Sweetwater School District. She taught home economics to junior high and high school kids.

She often chuckled about teaching the children of her earlier students. During her Wyoming years, she made more lifelong friends, some of whom she attended church with, others she sewed and quilted with, and others she taught with.

Reatha led a life of service and friendship wherever she lived.

When Reatha retired in 2010, she moved to Nampa, Idaho, to be near her father. She was able to enjoy about five years with him before his passing. They did many things together, including taking organ lessons and enjoying many hours of board and card games.

Reatha kept herself very busy. She loved to be with family and friends, whether it was traveling, quilting, sewing, keeping in touch through Facebook or servicing at church. She was a member of the Nampa 24th Ward, where she loved and served many and was loved by everyone. She also served several years in the Boise Temple where, once again, she cultivated many close friendships.

Many people enriched Reatha’s life by rendering service to her over the years. She always expressed gratitude when relating stories of the good deeds of others done in her behalf.

Reatha was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by a sister, Gayla (Dwight) Stewart, of Everett; a brother Roger (Joyce) Lee, of Edmonds; a sister, Tanya (Dale) Davis, of Marysville; a brother Layne (Dorri) Lee of Nampa; and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are through Zeyer Funeral Chapel. A viewing was held June 15, with the funeral June 16, both at the LDS chapel in Nampa, Idaho.
