Playoff outlook for boys and girls lacrosse

It's hard to believe, but the regular season is already grinding to a close and the playoffs will soon be beginning for most spring teams.

Here's a breakdown of the playoff scenarios for local boys and girls lacrosse teams.

Boys lacrosse

The boys lacrosse postseason will begin May 19 with the first round of the state playoffs.

The top two teams from each league automatically qualify, while the third place team will have to play-in to earn a spot.

The state quarterfinals will be play May 21, followed by the semifinals and championship game at the end of the month.

A full schedule of the playoffs has not yet been released.

As of Friday, May 1, in the Wesco/NW Division I league, here are the standings:

Girls lacrosse

The girls lacrosse playoffs begin with the first rounds of the state tournament on May 8-9.

The top three teams per conference qualify for state.

As of Friday, May 1, the Snohomish girls team was in a three-way tie for first place in the North South league with a 4-0 league, 6-3 overall record. Lakeside and Roosevelt are also tied for first place.

The state championship will be played May 15.
