Outta the way soccer fans, Hawks arriving soon | Constant Curmudgeon

Football season is almost upon us! Yeee Haaawwww! For those of us who love football, the first pre-season game in August will be a happening.

Our World Champion Seahawks have a tough year ahead. The so-called experts claim our Hawks are faced with one of the toughest schedules in the NFL.

Four teams that I can think of right off the top of my pointy head are the 49ers, the Redskins, the Giants and Dallas. Others, that don't come to mind immediately, are going to be difficult wins as well.

We need to be aware that every team in the NFL is going to be shooting at us because of our fantastic Super Bowl win.

I have faith, however, that our Seahawks will, once again, rise to the occasion.

I'm a lover of football. To me it is exciting and keeps me on the edge of my comfortable seat on the sofa for the entire game.

By contrast, I find it difficult to watch sporting events such as soccer ... with apologies to the soccer fans of the world.

In soccer, a score is so rare, to the point that a celebration that shakes the stadium is always the result with one.

In a sports bar where we had lunch today, a couple of teams played for what seems a week-and-a-half and nobody scored.

They kicked the ball all over the park, used their heads and other parts of their bodies to forward the ball to a teammate.

It's a wonder they didn't use their nose holes.

The sad part of soccer is that, all too frequently, fans lose their lives in the inevitable fights that result from a win or a loss.

I think I'd be more excited to watch a curling match. Give me football every time.

Sorry about those of you who don't get caught up in football.

It's the greatest game on earth. Once baseball was "America's game." More recently, football has taken over that title.

Let's hear it for our Seattle Seahawks!
