Construction for the expansion of Westgate Village has begun on the corner of 100th Avenue West and Edmonds Way. A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday, Feb. 7.

The empty lot just west of Bartell Drugs will be the site of a 91-unit apartment building, which will have some units reserved for affordable housing. There will be more retail, and the plan is to relocate Bartell Drugs closer to the street.

The construction means there is a considerable loss of parking behind Ono Poke, Subway and other shops.
