The Washington State Patrol is looking for a motorcyclist who, after crashing into a guardrail after exiting southbound Interstate 5 onto State Route 104, Edmonds Way, got back on his overturned bike and sped away, abandoning his seriously injured female passenger.

At about 6:55 a.m. Thursday, June 7, the motorcyclist, riding erratically on the freeway's right shoulder, lost control and hit the guardrail. His female passenger struck the guardrail's post, causing serious injuries.

The motorcycle slid to a stop on the exit ramp. The unidentified driver of the motorcycle then abandoned the passenger, righted the motorcycle and fled the scene east on SR 104.

The passenger was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Washington State Patrol wants to speak with anyone who witnessed the motorcyclist's driving prior to the collision, or witnessed the actual collision. In addition, officers would like to speak with anyone who has information that would help identify the motorcyclist.

Contact Sgt. Marken at 360-654-1141 or the Washington State Patrol communications center at 360-654-1204 with any information.
