Mona R. Kjolso (Wittig)

Nov 20, 2017

Mona, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 5, surrounded by her family.

She graduated from Edmonds High School in 1956 and married Larry Kjolso in 1959. They lived in Shoreline until 1965 then moved to Lynnwood, where they raised their three children.

Mona worked for an insurance company in Seattle and then at Sherwood Elementary in the Edmonds School District until she retired.

After retirement, her job became her grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was going to every sporting event they had and taking stats. She would make sure to have a treat for them after each game.

Two of her favorite pastimes were her get-togethers with her high school girlfriends and weekends at her Camano home with her family.

Mona leaves behind her husband Larry of 58 years; children Lynne (Joe) Baratto, Kris (Steve) Jensen and Shaun (Kirsten) Kjolso; her grandchildren Mariah, Alex, Jada, Jordan, Silje and Carter; her brother Cliff (Ingrid) Wittig; and their daughter Carol.

A celebration of life (open house) will be held 1-4 p.m. Dec. 9 at the home of Shaun and Kirsten, 13706 51st Ave. W, Edmonds.
