A fire in the clubhouse at a mobile home park sent one man to the hospital and caused more than $160,000 in damage Sunday night, July 8.

The fire was reported at 11:19 p.m. in the clubhouse at Ridge Acres Mobile Home Park at Edmonds Way and 232nd St. SW in Esperance.

According to South County Fire spokeswoman Leslie Hynes, flames were visible and there was a fire burning in the attic when the first firefighters arrived on the ladder truck based at Esperance Fire Station 20, according to Leslie Hynes, public information officer for South County Fire.

A portion of the building had been converted to an apartment.

One man was home at the time of the fire. He escaped, but was exposed to smoke. He was transported by firefighters to Swedish Edmonds hospital. His condition did not appear to be life-threatening, Hynes said.

The fire displaced the man, his parents and his two adult brothers. The family is receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

It took firefighters about 40 minutes to get the fire under control. Two nearby sheds and a van sustained heat damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office.
