Local artists who participated in the recently published book “Art State: Washington” will be exhibiting their artwork during May at Café Louvre, 210 Fifth Ave. S, Edmonds.

Oil painter Carl Brecht is one of the artists, an Edmonds favorite. He spent one day painting in front of Café Louvre earlier this month and has already sold two paintings in the opening days of the show.

There is a variety of artwork in the book, from Nancy Delgado’s realistic watercolors to Nancy Reid Isaak’s color palate and Steve Jensen’s steel vessels.

In all, 33 Washington artists’ works are included, with media including watercolor, oil, acrylic, pen and ink, sculpture, woodworking, photography, oil pastels and mixed media.

The book also is available on Amazon.

The 140-page “Art State: Washington” was published by Lillyan Hendershot, the co-owner and art director of the Branding Iron, a small-scale design firm in Edmonds.

Hendershot said The Branding Iron is publishing "Art State Washington" as a way to show the diversity and culture of art in Washington state, while acting as a way to market the individual artists who are featured.
