Linda Anne Leyda: 1939-2016

Oct 05, 2016

Linda Anne Schroeder was born Feb. 11, 1939, to Hugh and Helen Schroeder. She grew up in Richmond Beach and was a graduate of Ballard High School. She passed away Oct. 2, 2016.

She leaves behind her husband Walt, to whom she was married for 59 years. They spent most of their married life in Edmonds, where they raised their children.

She is also survived by daughter Lori Matsui and her husband Stan, who have three adult sons, David, Steven, and Mark; and son Robb and his wife Irene, who have three adult children – Donny, Sarah and Christopher; and a sister, Mary Malouf and her husband Bob, of Phoenix, Arizona.

Friendly, engaging and quick to laugh, Linda was a perfect fit in the Pioneer Girl program and as a camp counselor for Berean Bible Church, where she was a charter member. She also served in a prison ministry, where her kindness and empathy would profoundly influence incarcerated women.

She would have earned a gold medal in gift giving, package wrapping, home décor, generous family dinners, baby cuddling and praying for others.

What we will long remember her for, and for which we will ever be grateful, is that she did all this in the power of the Jesus she loved and who lived inside her.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Oct. 14 at Berean Bible Church, 2345 N. 185th St., Shoreline, with reception following.
