An exhibit of stunning photographs taken by Japanese photographer Kiyotaka Sugiura, “Lighthouses: A Journey to the East Coast,” will be on display in the Edmonds Library through April 30.

Kiyotaka Sugiura, born in Hekinan, Japan, has been a professional photographer since the 1970s.

A member of the Photographer Association of Japan, Realism Photo Collection Group, Sugiura has published several collections of photography and has participated in numerous exhibits in Japan and other parts of the world.

First visiting Edmonds 30 years ago, Sugiura has returned eight times to visit and take photographs of Edmonds.

Hekinan and Edmonds are Sister Cities, and Sugiura has frequently accompanied the Sister City delegation from Hekinan to Edmonds.

He delights in the calm and beautiful scenery and has held many photo exhibitions featuring Edmonds in Japan.

The show at the library features photographs he took of lighthouses while recently traveling on the East Coast.

They were first exhibited at the Edmonds Center for the Arts as part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the Sister City relationship with Hekinan which was held in October 2013.

The Edmonds Library is at 650 Main St. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9-6 Friday, 9-5 Saturday and 1-5 Sunday.
