Katherine "Kathi" Frankino: 1963-2018

Kathi, 55 of Edmonds, Washington, and formerly of Helena, Montana, passed away on September 1, 2018.

Kathi attended Capital High and graduated from Carroll College in 1985. She received her master's degree from the University of Montana. Kathi also attended Seattle Pacific University, where she focused on special-needs education. She received a certificate in Children in Crisis from the Harvard University School of Divinity.

As a youth, Kathi excelled in dance, cheerleading and was an accomplished gymnast. She also found joy in arts, and was known by her family and friends for her creative taste and artistic talents.

Kathi moved to Seattle in 1985 as part of the Archdiocese of Seattle Channel Program to begin her lifelong career as an elementary teacher. In 2001, Kathi married Joe Mauler, and they divorced in 2015.

At the time of her passing, Kathi was preparing for the school year as a first-grade teacher at Seaview Elementary School. As a teacher, Kathi was truly at her best. She connected with students, cared for them and was known for her ability to make education fun and interesting in the classroom. Her legacy is her dedication to her students and her gift in helping them succeed.

Kathi is preceded in death by her father, John Frankino; brother Steve Frankino; infant brother John Gabriel Frankino; and sister-in-law Mindy Swan.

She is survived by mother, Aggie; siblings Janice (Stuart) Doggett; Dan Frankino, David Frankino; nephew Michael (Jessica) Doggett; and nieces Anna (Jason) Richards, Jenna Frankino, Jude (Justin) Morine, Maggie Frankino; and sister-in-law Denise Troupe Frankino.
