The 18th annual Edmonds Jazz Connection, sponsored by the Edmonds Daybreakers Rotary Club, is Saturday, May 19, at three locations in downtown Edmonds.

The event brings together students, renowned professional musicians, the arts community, music educators and just those who just appreciate the uniquely American music form.

Featured will be choral jazz groups at the North Sound Center at Fourth Avenue North and Bell Street, and jazz combos at the Edmonds Theater, 415 Main St.

The big bands will be at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N.

Performances will begin at all venues at 9 a.m. and continue through the afternoon. Admission to all performances at all venues is open to the public.

While admission is free, donations are welcome to help the Daybreakers in supporting the club’s local youth programs, which include scholarships for graduating high school seniors and support for school music programs.

Featured this year at the choral venue is a workshop/clinic held by the renowned New York Voices quartet, an opportunity for student vocalists to hone their skills.

The day will end with a 30th anniversary celebration performance by the New York Voices at the Edmonds Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. See the ECA website for ticket information.

The Edmonds Jazz Connection will feature student groups from middle and high schools from around Puget Sound, including Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Shoreline, Arlington and Everett.
