Frances Anderson Center may be showing signs of wear – it’s an old building, for sure – but the playground area is cleaning up nicely.

A spiffy new bandshell, home to musical performances during the Edmonds Arts Festival, has replaced the previous one, which was falling apart.

Now, the city of Edmonds has selected a designer for a state-of-the-art playground to replace the nearby playground. More than 1,200 citizens also let their thoughts be known through city presentations and online voting.

Allplay Systems of Sequim got the contract with a bid just under $150,000. Parks and Recreation Director Carrie Hite said it should be installed by May.

The playground includes play areas for those 2-5 and those 5-12. The playground includes a climbing structure with slide, spring toys, a net-type climbing area, slides, a  sit spinner, stand spinner, drums, xylophone and other components.

Let's play!
