Holiday traditions continue at Port of Edmonds | Port View

Nov 20, 2017

December is just around the corner, so it’s time to mark your calendar for the holiday events happening at the Port of Edmonds.

Starting Dec. 2, our guest moorage at the marina will be filled with boats of all sizes elaborately decorated for the holidays. It’s always fun to admire the creativity put into these festive displays.

You’ll see hundreds of lights, as well as Frosty, Santa and our favorite reindeer, perched on the bows of various boats.

These decorated vessels are part of the Holiday on the Docks spectacle sponsored by the Edmonds Yacht Club. The Yacht Club conducts an annual contest for Holiday on the Docks participants and the competition is steep.

Bring the family down for a memorable walk along our marina any night of the week through Jan. 3.

An especially festive evening at the marina will be Wednesday, Dec. 13. The Argosy Christmas Ship will be at the Port of Edmonds preparing for its journey to Richmond Beach.

The Christmas Ship leaves our marina at 7 p.m. and the first choir performance is at 7:20 p.m. at the Edmonds Fishing Pier.

The Center for Spiritual Living (CSL) Choir will be performing onboard. And whether you are on the Christmas Ship, trailing behind in your own boat, or watching from the Edmonds waterfront, you’ll be able to hear the 20-minute music performance, thanks to the Christmas Ship’s state-of-the-art speaker system.

Need another reason to join in the festivity surrounding the Christmas Ship?

The Argosy Christmas Ship Festival is celebrating its 20th year partnering with The Seattle Times Fund for the Needy. This annual program contributes financial resources to many local nonprofits, such as Hopelink, Treehouse and Childhaven.

The marina is truly a wonderful place for the community to gather and take in the sights and sounds of the season together. I hope you’ll join me down at the docks on December 13th for this special community event.

Dress warm!
