The first of two informational panels has been installed just inside the entrance of Yost Park on Main Street at Olympic Avenue.

The signs are intended to provide environmental, historical and cultural information associated with specific sites.

At Yost Park, the sign identifies an old-growth cedar stump that shows notches from logging at the turn of the 20th century.

The other sign, where the concrete base already is set, will be on Sunset Avenue just north of Bell Street and will show the waterfront sawmills in 1910.

The Historic Preservation Commission developed the concept for the two panels and the Art Commission reviewed the design.

The City Council approved allocation of funds.
