Harassment deserves deeper look | Letter

I was really distressed after reading this article (“City denies culture of sexual harassment,” April 20).

While the conditions at the Edmonds Police Department may not meet the legal definition of “a culture of sexual harassment,” there is clearly a management problem at the department. The many issues over the past five or six years is clearly indicative of a problem, despite the police and city’s spokespersons claims to the contrary.

I’ve spent almost 50 years in accounting for various companies, and have never experienced the rate of personnel issues described in the article in an organization of 64 employees.

I really hope the city and police department will take a deeper look at this and not dismiss it out of hand, as their lawyers and other representatives seem to be doing.
