Gift giving trees a huge success

Dec 31, 2013

Every year, the Rotary Club of Edmonds provides gift giving trees to support the CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates for Children) and the Volunteer Guardian ad Litem Program.

These programs provide court-appointed special advocates for children who are victims or alleged victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, or neglect.

This past year, we processed 289 requests.  Miraculously, we filled ALL requests!

We would like to thank Jack Tawney and the  staff and supporters of Harbor Square Athletic Club for taking the lions' share of the gift requests.

We also wish to thank  the following:  fellow Rotarian  Pat Shields and his staff from NPI, Inc; Dennis Gallagher and his crew and patrons of Gallaghers’ U-Brew; and our fellow Rotarians of Rotary Club of Edmonds.

A HUGE THANKS should be given to Richard and Lorraine Mietzner, Sharalyn Ramm, Don Ptacek, Dennis and Sandy Gallagher, and Tom and Debra Rutherford for giving large monetary donations that allowed us to buy toys, warm coats, bikes, warm clothes, electronics, diapers, infant blankets, and gift certificates totaling $3,750!

Everyone who donated should feel special pride in being the angel guardians for these infants, children and teens.

The generosity of everyone was overwhelming to those of us who worked on this program, and we cannot express how much joy filled our hearts when we saw the gifts. Those 289 kids must be smiling bright today!

Happy Holidays!
