Oct 24, 2018

Gertrude R. “Trudie” Thornbrough ,99 years old, of Edmonds, passed away Sep- tember 23rd. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Slater, her beloved son Edward Quick and daughter-in-law Ruth Ann Quick, and her beloved daughter Barbara Allen, as well as her much-loved grand- children Jeannette Rooney, Russell Quick, Susan Manzoli, and Katherine Taylor, and her great-grandson, Nathaniel Manzoli.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Thornbrough, with whom she lived in California, Mississippi, Texas, England, and Japan. They traveled to Hong Kong, Chang-Mai, and Bangkok, and after his death, Trudie traveled to East Africa.

Trudie loved playing bridge, discussions with her current issues group, movies, reading, embroidery, football, and music. At her death, she had over 2,000 music CDs and numerous tablecloths, towels, pillowcases and napkins, which she had beautifully embroidered.

Trudie felt that when she said farewell to this life, it would be with a feeling of contentment, as she had achieved so many of the things she desired and had wanted to try – and she did it “Her Way.”

She requested no public memorial service, although there will be a private family memorial in her honor at a later date.

She also requested no flowers, but donations in her memory may be sent to Maplewood Presbyterian Church, 19523 84th Avenue East, Edmonds, WA 98026.
