Forest restoration at Hutt Park – join a winter work party

Oct 26, 2018

Looking for a way to make a difference in your community? Join EarthCorps’ Puget Sound Stewards to help restore the forested ecosystem in Edmonds’ Hutt Park, one of the last remaining patches of old growth forest in our region.

The stewards host work parties on the third Saturday of each month, with upcoming winter work parties scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 17, Dec. 15 and Jan. 19.

Hutt Park boasts some of the tallest trees in Edmonds, some of which are estimated to be more than 600 to 700 years old. English ivy has taken root throughout the park, threatening long-term sustainability.

Work parties are hosted by the Puget Sound Stewards, who will supply gloves and tools and teach you everything you need to know about tool use, safety, forest health, and the importance of the work you will be doing. No prior experience is necessary.

RSVP to EarthCorps at http://www.earthcorps.org/volunteer/calendar/.

Hutt Park is in the Seaview neighborhood at 187th Street SW and 94th Avenue W.
