Find ‘quiet zone’ somewhere else | Letter

Aug 28, 2014

Editor, The Beacon:

Thank you Rene Blumenfeld for your letter published in the Edmonds Beacon on Aug. 21 [“Silence of the Crickets,” page 5].

I agree with much of what you wrote concerning establishing a “quiet zone” in Edmonds.

I have lived in the bowl for 55 years, and have enjoyed hearing the trains and ferries.

They have been part of our history for a long time, and provide safety for all of us.

I would miss the horns if they were stopped, and do not want my taxes to be used for this purpose.

If a “quiet zone” is established, I would be very disappointed.

To paraphrase Rene’s last statement: If you don’t like the noises made by trains and ferries in Edmonds, you should find a “quiet zone” somewhere else!
