Evelyn Nora (Hamlin) Nicholson: 1938-2018

Evelyn Nora (Hamlin) Nicholson, 80 years old, went home to her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on June 1, 2018. Evelyn was born in Holabird, South Dakota, to Gordon and Elzora Hamlin, the first of eight children.

She graduated in May 1956. She married Don Nicholson June 6, 1956, and moved to Edmonds, where they raised their four children. Evelyn is survived by her children: Gordy (Cindy) Nicholson, Gene (Linda) Nicholson, Dawn LeBar, Norman (Julie) Nicholson, and honorary son Jim French.

She has 10 grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, four great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by six siblings and her sister-in-law, Ruth Hamlin.

Evelyn and Don purchased Sound Disposal Inc. in 1977 and serviced downtown Edmonds for 41 years. Evelyn continued to run the business after the passing of Don in 2007.

She was a member of the WRRA and served on the board of Trustees since 1991. Evelyn dedicated her life to serving her Lord at Puget Sound Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school to children wanting to learn about Jesus. Her door was always open and plenty of food served to everyone who came through her door.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Don Nicholson, who she was married to for 51 years, her parents, her brother Don and his wife Kathi Hamlin, and Matthew LeBar.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 pm Friday June 22, 2018, at Beck's Funeral Home, 405 Fifth Ave. S, Edmonds. A celebration of life will be held 10 a.m. June 23, 2018, at Westgate Chapel, 22901 Edmonds Way, Edmonds.
