The Edmonds-Woodway football team outlasted 3A rival Meadowdale on Friday, Sept. 20, despite double overtime. The final score was 20-14 for the Warriors, now 3-0 this season.

The game started with a 0-0 first quarter, before Meadowdale quarterback Jerremiah Evans completed a 26-yard touchdown run for the first points of the night with 11:12 left in the first half. The Mavericks led 7-0 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Edmonds-Woodway's Junior Opoku-Mensa scored off a 3-yard run with 5:15 left in the third, followed by a solid Ebrima Fatty kick to tie the game at seven.

Neither team crossed the goal line in the fourth quarter, sending the game to the first round of overtime.

Edmonds-Woodway started the first overtime with possession, leading to Opoku-Mensa's second touchdown of the night, giving the Warriors a momentary 14-7 lead.

Meadowdale took over on the 25-yard line, and a short drive later, Evans made an 8-yard run to tie the game at 14-14.

Meadowdale won the toss to take the first possession to start the second overtime drive, but the Mavericks play was intercepted on third down, giving the Warriors a second shot. Theo Lebesis caught a 22-yard pass from Edmonds-Woodway quarterback David Giles to win the game 20-14.
