Edmonds-Woodway narrowly defeats Mariner | Boys prep tennis

The Edmonds-Woodway boys tennis team narrowly beat Mariner on Thursday, Sept. 19. The Warriors won 4-3 over Mariner in Everett.

In the singles competition, Mariner Alex Hoang beat Brandon Chen 6-2 6-2, while Marauder Kal Johal beat Brian Song 6-3, 6-2. Edmonds-Woodway’s Andres Sabates beat Ferdinan Feliciano 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 and David Chang beat Chris Seao 6-2, 6-3.

In the doubles matches, Warriors Riley O’Brien and Chase Holmes beat Jeffery Choe and Oscar Ponce 6-1, 6-2, while Conner Santel and Kit Teer beat Jignesh Trivedi and Sebastien Khoutzaysana 6-4, 6-4. Edmonds-Woodway’s Evan Lester and Quinn Walker beat Ryan Pohle and Jesse Johal 7-6 (7-4) 6-0 in the final match of the day.

The Warriors are 1-2 in league and 1-3 overall this season, while Mariner is 1-2 and 1-3 overall.

Edmonds-Woodway takes on Jackson at home at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, while Mariner will play at Cascade at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
