Edmonds-Woodway girls capture Wesco Cross Country Championship

Edmonds-Woodway captured the team title at the Wesco Girls Cross Country Championships Saturday, Oct. 21, at Lakewood High School.

Senior Yukino Parle, and juniors Olivia Meader-Yetter and Stephanie Wrobleski placed second, third and fourth, behind first place finisher Taylor Roe of Lake Stevens.

Edmonds-Woodway placed first with 102 points and was followed by Snohomish with 108 and Glacier Peak with 131.

Glacier Peak’s Alexis Palmer was fifth and Kamiak’s Leah Clark took sixth. Edmonds-Woodway’s Alyssa Hershey placed 39th and Thea McAfee was 54th.

Edmonds-Woodway’s Deyago Perazo finished sixth and Lucas Lacambra placed 11th in the boys race. Teammates Dylan Hartono, Grant Christian and Jacob Willcox placed 14th, 15th and 16th. Meadowdale’s Colin Knechtel was 51st.

Jackson’s Joseph Skoog won the race and was followed by Glacier Peak’s Riley McDowell. Jackson’s Mateo Rivera placed fourth and Glacier Peak’s Nicholas Mullineux-Perrault was fifth.

Glacier Peak won the team title with 55 points and was followed by Edmonds-Woodway with 62 and Jackson with 79.

The Northwest District Championships are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28, at South Whidbey High School. The state meet will be Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.
