Edmonds Rotary awards $39,000 in scholarships

Edmonds Daybreakers Rotary awarded $39,000 in scholarships to 21 students, who are examples of academic excellence, personal achievement and commitment to serve the community.

Two Scriber Lake High School students received annual Memorial Scholarships at graduation.

Roger Silva was awarded the seventh annual Don Kreiman Rotary Memorial Scholarship for a student pursuing technical education.

Guadalupe Ruelas was awarded the first annual Rock Roth Rotary Memorial Scholarship. Rock was very supportive of students at Scriber Lake High School and will be missed by many.

Eight Jazz Connection scholarships were given to accomplished student musicians performing at the annual Jazz Connection, who are continuing their education and commitment to music.

Attending Edmonds-Woodway High School were Brandon Cowan, Emma Howeiler, Nicholas Birkby and Kyle Brooks; Meadowdale High School Ori Levari; Mountlake Terrace High School Henry Sparks; Shorewood High School Max Kapur; Cascade High School Isaac Fritz.

Eleven Edmonds Daybreakers Rotary Scholarships were given on Award Night.

Attending Seattle Pacific University Michaela Fraser; attending Edmonds-Woodway High School, Abel Tekemoriam, Courtney Gu, Tom Maxon, Ana Sabates and Julia Hutchinson; Lynnwood High School Erica Gott, Heidi Dauenhauser and Grace Douglas; Mountlake Terrace High School Sarah Barisic; Scriber Lake High School Gracia McCulloch.

All of the Edmonds Daybreakers Rotary Scholarships recognize the exceptional achievements in academics and community service of these students as well as continuing pursuit of education and careers.

The Edmonds Daybreakers Rotary is a community service organization, with membership of local business owners and leaders, that raises money through activities such as The Jazz Connection and the Experience Auction, and volunteers their member’s time and services, with the goal of supporting local, international causes, as well as the promotion of the spirit of service within their community.
