Edmonds police capture suspect in fatal collision

Courtesy of: South County Fire A driver in a speeding car is suspected of crashing into another vehicle and killing the driver.

Police continue to investigate a fatal collision that occurred near the 19700 block of northbound 76th Avenue West in Lynnwood, near the intersection of 196th Street SW.

The collision occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m., according to Lynnwood Police Cmdr. Sean Doty. He said that preliminary information is the suspect driver may have been speeding and struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle, before striking another vehicle driven by an adult male.

The suspect fled the scene of the collision on foot, but was captured by Edmonds police officers.  The location is just east of Edmonds city limits.

The victim driver who was struck was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died from his injuries.

There were no passengers in either vehicle. The suspect is in his 20s, and has been arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide.

No additional information is being released on the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
