Edmonds PD offers internet and social media safety class

The Edmonds Police Department presents a free class, “Internet and Social Media Safety: What Every Parent Should Know,” 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 16.

Detective Stacie Trykar will highlight the latest trends and potential dangers facing preteens and teens who use social media as a way to communicate with friends and family.

Tryker will discuss issues related to cyberbullying, harassment, chat rooms, online predators, oversharing online, sexting and sexual solicitation of minors.

The detective will provide case examples to show how teens in Edmonds are being victimized, point out the most popular apps being used by teens and provide safety tips and discussions starters for parents.

The class will be held at Edmonds Muncipal Court, 250 Fifth Ave. N, Edmonds. Information: stacie.trykar@edmondswa.gov.
