Last week, at the annual Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Conferences at Tulalip Resort, John McDonald of McDonald McGarry Insurance Brokers of Edmonds received the Don C. Burnham Lifetime Achievement Award.

This award recognizes an individual who has offered outstanding leadership and service to their clients and fellow agents during their career.

The award is considered the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers' highest honor for its members.

Founded in 1954 by John’s father, John and Sandy moved their agency to the historic house in Edmonds in 1996, where their daughter Meagan joined them in 2009.

McDonald McGarry Insurance is best known for their annual shredding event and the red firehats at the annual An Edmonds Kind of Fourth parade.

Over the years, McDonald has served as president of both of the Snohomish County Agents as well as the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Washington, along with serving on each of their boards of directors.
