23rd annual Edmonds in Bloom Garden Tour July 15

An annual tradition for many, this year’s Edmonds in Bloom Garden Tour includes seven private gardens, six in Edmonds and one in Woodway.

Gardens range from professionally designed and installed properties to hands-on, DIY creations that showcase the personality and hard work.

“From a gracious 10-acre estate to an extraordinary collection of hostas, from urban spaces that maximize each square foot to a rambling bit of country in the heart of the city, this year’s tour has variety, beauty, creativity and imagination,” Edmonds in Bloom member Sharon Stout said.

You can order tickets online at www.edmondsinbloom.com. Tickets also are available at the following local merchants: Bountiful Home, Frances Anderson Center, Garden Gear, Lil’ Sprout Nursery and Sky Nursery.

Tickets are $15 each in advance or $20 each at the first garden on the day of the tour.

Edmonds in Bloom is a nonprofit organization. For more information: edmondsinbloom.com.

Military free at Cascadia over the summer

Cascadia Art Museum in Edmonds is now part of the Blue Star Museums program. Each summer since 2010, Blue Star Museums have offered free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

The Blue Star Museums program is collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across America.

“We are pleased to offer free admission to our active-duty military friends and families,” museum president Lindsey Echelbarger said.

“These friends and neighbors serve 24/7 for us all, and this is the museum’s small way of saying thank you.”
