Edmonds City website has discount information for seniors

The Edmonds City Council has launched a page on the City website to assist seniors with discounts on property taxes and utilities, as well as links to area services and updates on where to locate Senior Center services while the remodel is underway.

Many Edmonds and Snohomish County residents may be eligible for senior citizen discounts on property taxes and combined utility bills.

Snohomish County property taxes

Based on your age and income level, you may be eligible for tax exemptions and deferrals on your property taxes each year.

City of Edmonds combined utility discounts

Edmonds offers low-income discounts on utilities; fill out this form or stop by City Hall and fill out the application form.

Olympic View Water & Sewer District

Edmonds residents served by Olympic View Water & Sewer District may be eligible for a low-income senior’s discount.

Snohomish PUD

PUD offers senior and low-income discounts on your electric bills; visit the Discount Programs page to see if you qualify. Did you know that Snohomish County PUD will not turn off your electricity if the temperature is near 32 degrees?

Snohomish County energy assistance program

The Snohomish County Energy Assistance Program offers low-income assistance on heating bills. There are three Energy Assistance Program components:

  • The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) usually opens around Nov. 15 (depending on the availability of funding) and closes when funds are spent, usually around April 1. This component helps with all fuel types and has a maximum benefit of $1,000.
  • The Puget Sound Energy HELP program is usually open from Oct. 1 to Sept. 15 and has a maximum benefit of $1,000.
  • The Cascade Natural Gas Washington Energy Assistance Fund (WEAF) program is usually open from Oct. 1 to Sept. 15 and has a maximum benefit of $500.

One other thing

The Edmonds Senior Center: Provides many services for seniors including lunches, classes, social activities including cards and game, free tax preparation help and more.

The current Senior Center location on the waterfront is undergoing a big transformation; this directory lists all of the places that Edmonds Senior Center activities will have their temporary home.
