The 12th Annual Edmonds Classic Car show, sponsored by Mercedes Benz of Lynnwood and presented by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce, took place on Sunday, Sept. 9.

With more than 300 classic cars from around the state on display and thousands of car enthusiasts in attendance, downtown Edmonds was hopping!

The People’s Choice award, newly added to recognize the 12th anniversary of the event, garnered $368 for the Edmonds Food Bank the day of the car show.

At $2 per vote, those passionate about cars gladly voted with their wallets for their favorites. When added to the $451 raised in a car show-related event last month, the total raised by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce was $819.

Many turned out in downtown Edmonds specifically for the event called Cacklefest. The roar of the engines taking part in Cacklefest, sponsored by Village Transmission & Auto Clinic, was loud to be sure, and a treat for those in the know.

There were big names in the racing business on hand signing autographs and revving the motors of their impressive dragsters.

One family visiting the Seattle area from New York decided to spend the day in Edmonds in order to witness Cacklefest.

A similar firing of the engines on hydroplane, Oh Boy Alberto, drew a crowd thanks to sponsor Edmonds Autobody.

Many downtown restaurants and merchants appreciated the shot in the arm the event provided in the form of increased Sunday sales.

The City of Edmonds’ Main Street Renovation project began the day following the event. While the block of Main Street between 5th Street and 6th Street will be closed to traffic for a couple months, businesses in the area are open.
