Edmonds-Woodway High School sophomore Tiia Freeman won the high school category of the Seattle-Kobe Sister City Association 13th annual Female Jazz Vocalist Competition March 6 at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley in Seattle.

She will travel to Kobe, Japan, to perform as a guest artist at the Kobe Jazz Vocal Queen Contest May 13.

“It was an honor to perform at Jazz Alley, and I am thrilled for the opportunity to perform in Japan and meet others with the same passion for jazz across the globe,” Freeman said.

She is a member of the Edmonds-Woodway High School Mello-Aires Jazz Choir and a cellist in the Edmonds-Woodway Philharmonic.
