Donald Ray Etchison: 1939-2018

Donald “Don” Ray Etchison, age 79, passed away on September 9, 2018.

Don was born Feb 16, 1939, in Lindsey, California, to Jack Etchison and Eulalia Moorhead, and was raised in Porterville, California.

During his six years of service in the U.S. Navy, he met his wife Jan and they married in Modesto, California, in 1961. Soon after they married, they moved to Edmonds, where they resided for 53 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, bowling and attending his daughters’ activities.

Upon retirement from The Boeing Company in 1996, Don became involved with the Masonic Fraternity, Scottish Rite and Eastern Star.

Don was a Past Master of Edmonds Lodge #165; current Worthy Patron of Clover Chapter, Rathdrum, Idaho; Past Patron of Analia Chapter, Edmonds; Past High Priest Snohomish County Royal Arch Masons; Past Grand Escort to the Past Grand Matron of Washington; and Past Illustrious Master of Seattle Valley Scottish Rite and a 33rd degree Mason.

He was also active with DeMolay, Rainbow and Job’s Daughters.

After moving, Don took up a new hobby, working with HO-scale model trains. He loved living close to his great-grandchildren and taking advantage of the great summer weather to garden. He and Jan enjoyed their many travels together.

Don is survived by his wife Jan of 57 years, daughters Sheri Wiggins and Sue Meyring (Perry); grandsons Tyler Vranich (Christie), Ryan Vranich (Haeven), William Meyring and Dustin Meyring; two great-grandchildren, and one on the way.

A memorial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, November 4, at Scottish Rite in Shoreline, 1207 N. 152nd St., Shoreline.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
