Deadline extended for New Youth Commission members

More youth applicants are needed for Edmonds’ inaugural youth commission, which intends to give young people a presence in City government

The City has received eight applications, and has 11 openings. The mayor and City Council will be interviewing and possibly appointing the first eight applicants before the Dec. 4 council meeting.

The extended recruitment is open until Dec. 14.

The Youth Commission will meet on the first and third Wednesdays of every month from 6-7:30 p.m.

To be eligible, persons appointed to serve on the commission need to live within the City of Edmonds and must be entering grades nine through 12, or be of equivalent age if not enrolled in a traditional school program.

The commission will include nine members and two alternates who will fill one-year terms, with no term limits. Each city councilmember will make one appointment, while the mayor will appoint two members plus the two alternates.
