Courtesy of: Cole Gallery The Cole Gallery will feature artist Andy Eccleshall’s show “Ambiance” from July 12 to Aug. 18. Works similar to "Barnstorm" will be on display.

In his upcoming show, "Ambiance," artist Andy Eccleshall focuses on the beauty and character of a sense of place.

Originally from the midlands of England in Staffordshire, Eccleshall is renowned for his captivating land and skyscapes.

"Rather than going for extreme contrast, this collection is a little softer, trending more toward ambient art with less concern for specific details and more concern with the mood I create,” Eccleshall said.

A resident of Edmonds since 2002, Eccleshall is a fixture of the local art community, known for his public and private mural work and his involvement in the community.

"Andy's work captures the tension of our natural surroundings,” friend and collector Carl Orsi said, “which he portrays as beautiful and timeless yet constantly changing.

“He is able to show the drama in a coming storm, the growing power being formed, yet it all seems very natural and comforting. His works give me hope that the storm, any storm, will pass."

An artist reception will be held from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Cole Art Gallery, 107 Fifth Ave. S.

Eccleshall will also be offering two painting workshops this fall at Cole Art Studio.
