The city of Edmonds has received a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

The certificate of achievement is a significant accomplishment for the city, as it is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting

Finance Director Scott James accepted the award.

“This highest form of recognition for financial reporting is due to the good work of our finance department staff,” he said. “This award is evidence that the department is working hard to ensure that the city’s finances, and financial story, are clearly communicated to our citizens.”

Edmonds’ CAFR can be found online at

New this year, the city’s first-ever Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) won the award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting. The city’s 2016 PAFR is a more reader-friendly version of the CAFR, and can also be found online.

Free hard copies are available at City Hall, Frances Anderson Center and Edmonds Library.
