City Council approves 110-foot buffer for Edmonds Marsh

Oct 05, 2016

After months of study and numerous comments for citizens, the City Council voted 4-3 to approve a 110-foot buffer (and 15-foot setback) for the Edmonds Marsh, 10 feet more than it had originally proposed.

Voting for were Kristiana Johnson, Mike Nelson, Diane Buckshnis and Adrienne Fraley-Monillas. Voting against were Tom Mesaros, Neil Tibbot and Dave Teitzel.

The Washington State Department of Ecology had recommended a 65-foot buffer and 50-foot setback.

The city now needs to send documentation for its proposal to the director of the Ecology Department, who has the ultimate decision.
