Celebration of Lights provides funding for youth scholarships | Letter

Jan 14, 2016

Editor, The Beacon:

On behalf of the City of Edmonds, thank you to all who chose to “light a light” during the holiday season.

Seventy-five lights were lit in the names of loved ones during the Celebration of Lights campaign, raising $1,870 for the Youth Scholarship Fund.

Each year scholarships enable children in Edmonds to participate in City of Edmonds Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services programs who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity.

This was the 17th year that a living fir tree was lit and placed outside the Frances Anderson Center for the holiday season.

After the holidays, the tree will be planted in the interior of Pine Ridge Park. Thank you to all who participated!

Tammy Rankins,

Recreation Coordinator,

City of Edmonds
